Please contact the library at 518-794-8844 to reserve your spot. The New Lebanon Library is pleased to host a Repair Café (with a twist!) from the Climate Smart Community of New Lebanon. At a repair café, volunteer "fixers," or repair experts, diagnose, consult and most often fix broken items, from lamps and other small electrical appliances like toasters, to a vast array of items, whether they are made from wood, metal, cloth or plastic. The movement's motto? Toss it? No way! This session will focus on lamp repair and basic sewing with a Do-It-Yourself focus. This event is free and open to the public, and there will be parts on hand to make your repair at no cost. Experienced Repair Coaches will demonstrate and guide you in a step-by-step approach to lamp repair. Attendees will learn about the parts of a lamp, how to diagnose the problem, and the basic tools needed. Then, small groups will work with the Repair Coaches who will guide and assist them through diagnosing and repairing their lamp. We will also have two Sewing stations for attaching buttons and patching holes. Attendees can observe the work being done and pick up tips on learning to do it themselves, too. |
