An image of a lawn and garden with text. Soaking Up the Waters: How Rain Gardens Protect Your Community. Thursday, May 21st, 6:30 PM. When heavy rain or water flowing downhill collects in low areas, it can flood yards, homes, streets, and gutters—sometimes carrying pollutants with it.

Join Master Gardener Frieda Pearce for a presentation on how rain gardens can reduce flooding, add shade and greenery, and help protect the environment by keeping runoff out of homes and water systems. The Library is pleased to offer this presentation as part of a series begun by the Village of East Nassau Climate Smart Committee. It is cosponsored by the New Lebanon Climate Smart Committee and the Stephentown Clean Energy Committee. Frieda Pearce is a Master Gardener in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties. This program is free and open to the public. The New Lebanon Library is located at 550 State Route 20 in New Lebanon, NY. Additional parking is available on the side of Tilden Road and in the Tilden Plaza parking lot.
