Nature and American Art

Wednesday, December 15th at 6:00 PM

Experience the natural beauty of the United States through the eyes of artists in New-York Historical Society’s collection. Discover how an evolving understanding of science and the emergence of early conservation movements shaped the 19th-century work of naturalist John James Audubon and the landscape painters of the Hudson River School.

These hour-long lectures are delivered live by a Museum docent or curator, accompanied by slides showing artifacts from our collection and recent exhibitions. A short Q&A period will follow each presentation. This program is brought to you through a partnership with the Columbia County Libraries Association. Please contact the library to register and receive login instructions.

Effective Monday, May 17th, appointments are no longer needed to visit the Library. Masks must still be worn by all patrons (ages 3 years and up) inside the Library. The number of people in the building will be limited to ensure social distancing. We will continue to offer curbside service as well. We hope to see you drop in soon!
