In concert: Bobby Sweet & Lara Tupper

August 18, 2017

Bobby Sweet and Lara Tupper performing a mix of Bobby's originals and some folk/pop renditions. Free and open to the public - donations for the performers appreciated.

Bobby is a sixth-generation musician. He began performing at age 7 in his father’s band, and left at 17 to pursue his widening musical interests. As a performer, Bobby has shared the bill with some of the top country and folk artists, including Vince Gill, Bill Staines, Bill Morrissey, Martin Sexton, Bryan White, Arlo Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and Jonathan Edwards. In 2011, he was selected as a New Folk finalist at Kerrville, and his songs have also received honorable mentions from The New York Songwriter’s Circle Songwriting Contest, The UK Songwriting Contest, The Billboard Songwriting Contest, and The Mountain Stage NewSong Contest. Stylistically, Bobby’s music resides somewhere between John Prine, Jackson Browne, Guy Clark, and a countryfied Bruce Springsteen. An engaging storyteller, he is at home on the stage, whether performing solo, with his eclectic trio, or with the full band.

Lara Tupper, vocalist, studied jazz at Wesleyan University and for six years held performance residencies in Thailand, Japan, China and the United Arab Emirates for Hilton Hotels International. (For further details, Harcourt published her autobiographical novel, A THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS, about singers performing overseas.) She has taught at Rutgers University, NYU and Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, but perhaps her proudest achievement is serving in Barry Manilow’s back up choir for his Greatest Hits and Then Some tour. She remains a devoted Fanilow. Look for her debut EP, "Lara Tupper" (2012) on itunes and cd baby.
