Poetry Reading: Elizabeth Poreba & Heather Moore Niver

July 30, 2015

Local poets Elizabeth Poreba and Heather Moore Niver will perform selected readings of their work. Signing and light refreshments will follow.

Elizabeth Poreba moved to New Lebanon with her husband in 1985 and promptly began her career as a weekend gardener, supported by her weekday career as a high school English teacher in New York City. She has published a chapbook, The Family Calling (Finishing Line Press, 2011) and a full-length collection of poems, Vexed (Wipf and Stock, 2015). Her poems have appeared in This Full Green Hour (Sonopo Press, 2008) Ducts.org, First Literary Review East and Commonweal, among other on-line and print publications.

Heather Moore Niver is a coffee-fueled writer and editor living two miles from the Hudson River. She keeps the ink from blotting by participating in juried poetry workshops at the New York State Writer’s Institute and The Edna St. Vincent Millay Society and leading an annual winter Adirondack arts retreat writing workshop. Her poetry has appeared in Peer Glass, The Berkshire Review, Pathways, Zephyrs, and the 2013 Poet's Market; as well as at YourDailyPoem.com. Her poem was also commissioned to appear with Hudson Valley artist Carolyn Edlund's painting at the 2008 National Poetry Month exhibit at the Sherry French Gallery
